Todd Elkins has stepped down as head coach for the men’s soccer team, Biola Athletics announced Wednesday.
Elkins coached soccer at Biola for 16 seasons before stepping away from the program. He rounded out the men’s 2019 season at 8-7-3. Elkins led his Eagles to one last win against Fresno Pacific University on Saturday, closing Biola’s season and ending his coaching career.
“Words cannot describe the feelings of great sadness that my family and I feel as we say goodbye to Biola,” Elkins said in a statement released by Athletics. “The amazing men and women that I have had the privilege to coach mean the world to me and will be the most precious memories I will take with me.”
During his 16 seasons at Biola, Elkins coached both men’s and women’s soccer, but for the last seven years, he has focused on the men’s team. He ended his coaching career at 70-44-14 as the men’s head coach and 131-90-29 overall.
“Todd Elkins has been a devoted coach and mentor to countless student-athletes,” said Bethany Miller, senior director of athletics. “He has been a beloved member of our athletics staff and will be missed for his kindness, sense of humor and wise perspective. We wish him and his family the best.”
Biola athletics will now begin a national search to fill the head coach position.
