Crime Log ― April 2 – April 9

This week’s crime log was fairly quiet, with a few instances of disturbing the peace, trespassing and attempted extortion.

Disturbing the Peace ― Sutherland Hall

Reported April 2, 12:11 a.m.

A neighboring resident reported loud talking and yelling by a group of students coming out of an event in Sutherland Hall. Officers observed the crowd dispersing and the incident was cleared by exception.

Trespassing ― Library

Reported April 2, 4:02 p.m.

An employee from the Welcome Center in Metzger Hall reported an individual who appeared to be homeless. The individual asked to use the restroom before starting off toward the library. The individual was contacted by Campus Safety near Heritage Cafe and asked to leave. They left with no further incident.

Attempted Extortion ― Welch Apartments

Reported April 3, 11:21 a.m., occurred 4:33 a.m.

A student reported having received an email that was trying to take money from them. The email seemed to be sent as a spam message. The incident was not forwarded to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

Disturbing the Peace ― Lot S

Reported April 3, 10:06 p.m.

An officer observed groups of people possibly practicing for Mock Rock, making noise on floors three and five of the parking structure. The students, were asked to quiet down, and they complied without further incident.

Disturbing the Peace ― Lot K

Reported April 4, 10:59 p.m.

A student reported a group of students for being too loud while practicing for Mock Rock. Campus Safety personnel made contact with the students on the top floor of the structure and had them quiet down.
