Men’s tennis lost big to traveling University of Hawaii Hilo on Monday at the Biola Tennis Center. The Eagles quickly dropped the doubles matches and the singles could not fight back later on, losing 4-0.
Sophomores Logan Blair and Quentin Lau lost 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles position in a tight match. The No. 2 doubles team of juniors Derek James and Erik Martinez quickly followed suit, losing 6-0, and the No. 3 match went unfinished.
“It’s difficult to be energetic and focus on every point when someone is out-playing you. Credit to Hilo this match,” said head coach David Goodman.
No. 4 singles player Lau was the first to drop his match to Hilo 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Edwyn Ramos lost the No. 1 singles match by the same scores. Blair gave the last point of the match to Hawaii, losing by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Freshman Andres Meneses’ No. 5 singles match went unfinished after a tough 7-5 first set loss.
“The one thing we need to improve on is getting the doubles point. That has been super important in the results that we have been getting,” Meneses said.
The Eagles (6-9) will be back out on the court at home Wednesday at 2 p.m. against Pacific University.
