Crime Log ― Oct. 9 – Oct.17

Threatening phone calls, trespassing and petty theft make up this week’s Crime Log.

Obscene or Threatening Phone Calls ― Emerson Hall

Reported Oct. 9, 3:30 p.m., occurred between 3:20 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

A student worker received and reported threatening phone calls. Campus Safety made contact with the student to make sure they were safe before writing up a report. A report was not filed with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the situation was cleared by exception.

Petty Theft ― Lot S

Reported Oct. 10, 1:50 p.m., occurred between Oct. 4, 5:10 p.m. and Oct. 10, 10:30 a.m.

A staff member reported stolen vehicle parts from the outside of their car. Campus Safety is continuing the investigation, but will not involve the LASD.  

Disturbing the Peace ― Horton Hall

Reported Oct. 13, 1:38 p.m.

A student reported a car alarm going off. Campus Safety made contact with the vehicle owner, who turned the alarm off without further incident.

Trespassing, Possession of Burglary Tools ― White Drive

Reported Oct. 14, 8:41 a.m.

A Campus Safety officer observed an individual attempting to steal a bike. The individual, who was not a student, was caught lowering the bike down the wall above White Drive behind the library. The officer made contact but the perpetrator was able to get away before the LASD arrived. The case remains active.

Petty Theft ― Talbot East

Reported Oct. 16, 2:17 p.m., occurred between Oct. 9, 8:30 p.m. and Oct. 15, 9:45 a.m.

A student reported their locked bike missing. Campus Safety determined that the incident was linked to the attempted theft that occurred on Oct. 14. The bike was returned to the student, but a report was filed with the LASD. The investigation remains active.

Petty Theft ― Rosecrans Apartments #3

Reported Oct. 16, 7:24 p.m., occurred Oct. 15

A student reported a stolen grill that was taken from outside the apartment. Campus Safety is continuing the investigation.
