Senior William Langworthy tied his career best in the opening round of the Master’s College Mustang Invite in Santa Clarita on Feb. 29, shooting two under par. However, the following two rounds Langworthy and his teammates suffered, resulting in a 10th place finish.

Their 10th place finish situated them only one stroke behind the ninth place finisher, the Marymount College Mariners. The Eagles only have one more tournament before the Golden State Athletic Conference championships on April 25-26.

The two-day tournament featured three rounds of 18-hole golf with a par of 288 each round. In the first round, the Eagles ended up in seventh place with a finish of 297. Freshmen Austin Bishop and Dominic Ariondo also had a solid round, scoring a 74 and 75, respectively.

The second round saw Biola drop in the rankings, as they carded a total 314 on the day. Ariondo and fellow freshmen Kyle McAbee each finished the round with a 76, while the rest of Biola’s squad dropped down into the 80’s.

The third round proved all about Biola’s three freshman, as each of them finished in the 70’s. Ariondo had another very solid round, finishing with a 72, a new career-low in only his fourth tournament of the year. The freshman finished in a tie for 21st overall in the 78 player field. Bishop struggled with flu-like symptoms all three rounds, but fought through the sickness to card a 76 in the final round. McAbee tallied a 77 in the final round, and tied with Bishop for 46th overall.

The Eagles’ next tournament is on March 21-22 at the CBU Spring Invite in Riverside, which is the final tournament before the GSAC championships.
