After reviewing last week’s proposals, the Student Government Association voted to pass all of the open proposals.

SGA president Greg Ambrose shared about a new event management program SGA will oversee. The plan includes having one event to the scale of Deck the Haven or Mosaic Masquerade every semester. SGA’s goal is to have their first event next semester, where they will partner with the Haven students to plan and host the event. The Haven students have expressed interest in finding a solution to Deck the Haven being cut since the end of the summer, according to SGA advisor and Student Programming and Activities director Laura Igram. The biggest difference remains the location since large-scale events can no longer be held in dorms. All students will have the option to prepare a proposal for this event, with the goal of one being selected near the beginning of next semester.

Senators also heard from previous student government president Tyler Hormel and vice president Ashley Panko. They discussed how lessons they learned as senators and student leaders apply to their current jobs. Panko works for Disney and believes one of her lessons includes practicing what it looks like and means to be a part of a team. Hormel uses his public speaking skills at Deloitte. The two also shared highlights from their leadership roles, including helping plan the launch party for the Biola campaign and orientation week. They encouraged senators to touch base with their resident advisors to offer any extra assistance, as well as continue to reach out to the off campus community by having food for them in conjunction with other major events and simply talking to students in the Collegium.
